History

In 2008, a team of meteorology companies and researchers from the National Weather Center sought to develop the world's first real-time forensic hail mapping solution. The project began in response to requests by roofers dissatisfied with the untimeliness and inaccuracy of hand-drawn hail maps.

The team included Weather Fusion LLC, a meteorological services and consulting firm, and NanoWeather Inc., developer of the world's most accurate automated weather forecasting system.

The result was HailScope™, a hail analysis system that instantly pinpoints the size and locations where large hail fell. By integrating cutting-edge hail detection with proprietary 3-D modeling of individual storm cells, HailScope™ provides street-level detail and far greater accuracy than the Hail Detection Algorithm (HDA) used by our competitors.
